The Executive Director (ED) is the primary staff leader responsible for overseeing WIPN’s day-to-day operations, supporting the Board of Directors, managing our programs and events calendar, and helping grow membership and organizational capacity. The ED is a strategic partner to the Board and ensures that WIPN delivers its mission effectively and efficiently.

Position Summary

The Executive Director (ED) is the primary staff leader responsible for overseeing WIPN’s day-to-day operations, supporting the Board of Directors, managing our programs and events calendar, and helping grow membership and organizational capacity. The ED is a strategic partner to the Board and ensures that WIPN delivers its mission effectively and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership & Strategic Oversight
o Collaborate with the Board to refine and implement WIPN’s strategic plan, goals, and priorities.  
o Develop annual work plans and operational plans aligned with WIPN’s mission  
o Coordinate reports to support defined KPIs for the position to present to the Board

2. Board & Governance Support
o Serve as the central coordinator across all Board functions to ensure seamless planning and execution of organizational initiatives.
o Connect strategy to logistics by aligning committees, timelines, communications, and operational details.
o Operationalize Committees by assisting in the onboarding process of new Committee members and formalizing Committee roles and responsibilities  
o Prepare and distribute board materials, reports, meeting agendas and minutes, and follow up on action items.
o Provide the Board with timely and accurate information to facilitate decisionmaking and governance.  

3. Programming and Events  
o Provide support to the National Events Chair to help plan, coordinate, and execute national events (in-person and virtual), including timelines, logistics, communications, and post-event follow-up.
o Manager the master calendar of programming and events for member distribution and the website
o Provide support to coordinate annual Chapter Chair meetings and in-person Board meetings

4. Organizational Management

o Manage administrative operations, including contracts, vendor relationships, insurance or other organizational needs as appropriate in conjunction with the WIPN Secretary.  

5. Communications, Marketing & Outreach

o Assist with the implementation of member communication and outreach strategies to promote WIPN’s mission, events, and membership opportunities.
o Serve as a liaison for media inquiries, public relations, newsletters, website updates, and social media posts.
o Coordinate with marketing consultant to develop content and programming that aligns with WIPN’s mission and membership needs.

6. Compliance & Best Practices

o Ensure compliance with applicable laws, nonprofit regulations, and ethical standards.
o Develop or implement policies and procedures to support transparent governance, financial integrity, and organizational accountability.

Qualifications & Skills
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in nonprofit management, business administration, public administration, or related field — or equivalent nonprofit management experience.  
• 5+ years of progressive leadership experience within a nonprofit, association, or membership-based organization — preferably including board liaison, committee coordination, and event planning.  
• Strong organizational, strategic planning, and project management skills.  
• Demonstrated ability to translate strategy to execution
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interacting with board members, sponsors, volunteers, and members across all levels.  
• Ability to lead events and coordinate multiple stakeholders — from regional chapters to sponsors to vendors.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with sponsors, industry partners, or external organizations.
• Self-motivated, mission-driven, flexible (given that events, committees, and chapters may require working outside “normal” business hours), and able to balance multiple priorities.
• Executive presence and business acumen
• Integrity, transparency, and commitment to the mission and values of WIPN

Preferred (but not required) Qualifications
• Experience leading and scaling member-based organizations.
• Experience working with volunteer boards and member volunteers (chapters/committees)
• Familiarity with financial services and/or retirement plan industry
• Experience with member-based software (e.g., Member Stack, HubSpot, Stripe, Webflow)

Working Conditions & Compensation
• Independent contractor position - Part-time position  
• Remote work environment with periodic travel to Board meetings, as needed.
• Compensation: commensurate with experience and organizational budget
